About the Program
American Indian and Alaska Native peoples from across this land have used indigenous medicines over generations to maintain physical, emotional, social and spiritual health. Learn about indigenous traditional foods and plant medicines that are available throughout the four seasons of winter, spring, summer and autumn. Find new ways of incorporating these medicines into your lifestyle. Enjoy them in a variety of ways as foods, teas, ciders, balms, salves, lotions, and steams to name a few.

About the Teacher
Melissa Meyer is Tsimshian First Nation from Lax Kw’alaams BC or the Island of Roses. She is a community trained Traditional Plant Medicine Practitioner and is now taking Clinical Herbal training. She is most passionate about helping folks heal with plants and remembering their ancestral plant helpers. She has been a Traditional Health Practitioner here at SIHB for almost two years now. Melissa lives in Tacoma with her family.
