I bet you didn’t know we had doctors who performed acupuncture on patients. Specifically, ear acupuncture. Eight of Seattle Indian Health Board’s physicians are certified in this unique treatment modality.
Seattle Indian Health Board hosted two trainings in March where 19 family medicine physicians from local community health clinics were trained in the use of ear acupuncture using the “NADA protocol.” The NADA protocol is a non-verbal approach to healing.
How does it work?
Ear acupuncture involves the gentle placement of five, small, sterilized disposable needles into specific sites on each ear.
Why is Seattle Indian Health Board using it?
Ear acupuncture has been effective in treating withdrawal and craving effects of addiction as well as anxiety, insomnia, stress, and trauma.
We are proud to offer this service as an adjunctive therapy that is effective, cost-efficient, drug-free, and compatible cross-culturally.
